IS DARSHANA- ARUN LOVE PLOT IN "HRIDAYAM" UNCONVINCING?

     At least some of us would have had this thought.  Why didn’t Arun go back to Darshana after the patch-up? Maybe it was a pure infatuation based romance, although it is not completely true.

 Teenage romance is all about following your own “hridayam”. Darshana and Arun were also mere players in the game of hearts. Both Arun and Darshana were passionate about each other. Fate separated them.

Why couldn’t they rejoin?

 May be… Arun was the one who was deeply affected. He transformed from a cute innocent boy to a spoiled toxic brat all because of this “Darshana incident”. Once changed, one cannot return to the exact initial state.

   In contrast, Darshana stayed the same except the fact that she was still furious about Arun. The incident didn’t have a huge impact on her character framework.

 Obviously, different people pick up incidents differently.

 Arun started out as a passionless youth and ended up being an ambitious person. Maybe the new Arun couldn’t love Darshana. Although he struggled to forget Darshana initially, he was finally able to get her out of his mind. He moved on and was able to find his true love. Now Darshana was only his closest friend, nothing more, nothing less.

 As opposed to this, Darshana couldn’t change as much as him. Darshana hated Arun too, but he was always part of her life. She always thought that things would remain the same and had never thought of a scenario where Arun is in another serious relationship. Also she was a witness to both his transformation and “retransformation”.  This may have invoked feeling of love in her.

  This is one perfect example of the difference between infatuation and love. Maybe Arun’s one was infatuation, whereas Darshana’s was love. Darshana keenly observed him over the years and fell for him. Eventually it became difficult for her to let him go. Well! All infatuations don’t end well, so is true love.

  Unfortunately Darshana and Arun fell in love with each other at different points of time. Sadly their love was not meant to be….
